100 Aspen
100 Aspen - as my wife likes to call it. We ran upon this aspen grove when we were out in Telluride two weeks ago to see Ziggy Marley. It rained the entire time we were there which added to the already great contrast of the ferns and undergrowth against the white and black aspens.

Buffalo Boy Mine
This is the Buffalo Boy mine just north of Silverton, CO and was the wheelhouse for a lift system that transported ore from a mine with very hard access to the closest road. This is one of the last structures of its kind that is still intact, most others have collapsed under the enormous weight of the winter snow.

Chaco Canyon, NM
Here is a shot of Chaco Canyon I took this winter. Its about 2 hours south of Durango and is home to the largest Native American ruins in North America. There are numerous pueblos that in total was home to a few thousand Anasazi's. This place is so unbeleivable, it is sure to blow your mind if you get the chance to visit it yourself.

Grotesque Beauty
I had in friend once named Stovall that would have called this seen "Grotesque Beauty". This ponderosa has been knarled up by past lightning strikes. Just took this shot 2 days ago at the Flatiron Mountains in Boulder just behind NCAR.

Devil's Thumb Pass
I can't wait to get back up in the high alpine mountains here in Colorado. With a strong snow pack still in the mountains it will be a while before I get a chance. I took this shot last summer up in the Devils Thumb area in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area.

Mount Saint Vrain Wilderness
I took this shot off a little used trail that eventually leads up to Mount Saint Vrain. Its a beautiful hike that most of the time you will get to yourself, its also a great cross country ski trail in the winter with a good slope to do some teli skiing on the way down.

REDRUM
There sits the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. Made famous by Steven King who became inspired while staying here to write The Shining. Took this shot from the South Side of Estes Lake using a zoom lens to frame it in.

Purgatory Winterfest Fireworks
It was about 5 degrees outside when I took this HDR shot and my fingers were definitely in some state of frostbit. Good times though with lots of good music and some local brewery on hand with their seasonal beers.
